From the trail head, the trail is marked with blue DEC markers. The trail starts out with a moderate climb and then levels off. After 0.6m you come to Round Pond with designated campsites on your left.

From Round Pond, the trail is mostly level with some moderate climbing involved. You will cross several streams and come to the junction with the Noonmark via Felix Adler Trail to your left and straight ahead after 1.6m. The trail continues to the right.

From the junction with the Noonmark via Felix Adler Trail, the trail is mostly level. You will come upon the Boquet River and cross over another brook over a bridge. The trail climbs briefly and after 1.9m you come to the Boquet River Lean-To on the right.

From the Boquet River Lean-To, the trail climbs moderately crossing several brooks and streams. After 1.8m the trail reaches the base of a slide. Just after the slide, this section of the trail is extremely steep and caution should be used. After this steep section of trail, you come to the junction with the Dix via Hunters Pass trail after 2.4m.

From the junction with the Hunters Pass Trail, the trail climbs moderately for 0.2m and then levels off. After 0.4m, you come to a bolt in the ground that marks the summit of Dix Mountain.
