From the trail head, the trail is marked with ATIS markers. The trail starts out crossing two streams then climbs steeply. You will encounter several switch backs that lead to an open ledge with views of Chapel Pond. After another steep section, the trail comes to the junction with Giants Washbowl Trail after 0.7m.

From the junction with the Giants Washbowl Trail to the left, the trail passes the Giant Washbowl and there is a designated campsite on the right side of the trail. After a short moderate climb, the trail comes to the junction after 0.2m with another side trail leading to the side trail to the Giant via Roaring Brook Trail.

From the junction with the side trail leading to the Giants Washbowl Trail, the trail climbs moderately for 0.1m until you come to the junction with the Giants Nubble Trail on your left.

From the junction with the Giants Nubble Trail, the trail climbs moderately and then turns steep. After the steep section, you will come to a series of ledges where the trail is marked by cairns. The trail can get steep when traveling through these ledges, but after the last ledge, the trail turns to a moderate climb on open rock. There are several side trails that lead to ledges with some good views off of the main trail. After 1.1m, you come to the junction with the Giant via Roaring Brook Trail from the left.

From the junction with the Giant via Ridge Trail, the trail climbs moderately with some flat sections. The trail has one steep section that leads up to the junction with the East Trail to Rocky Peak Ridge and Giant after 0.5m.
