From the trail head, the trail crosses a brook via a bridge and stays mostly level for about a mile and a half. From here, the trail will start to climb steeply to the summit of Marble Mt after 2.2m.

From the summit of Marble Mt, the trail climbs in alternating steep and moderately steep sections for 1.4m. You will come across an old toboggan shed before you come to the junction with the unmaintained trail to Esther. This junction is marked with an unreadable sign pointing toward Esther.

From the junction with the unmaintained trail to Esther, the trial descends shortly to a wet area crossed by log bridges. From here, the trail climbs up a steep section until you reach a rock wall that is supporting the Memorial Highway. The trail then climbs shortly to timber line and up to the summit of Whiteface after 1.6m.
